About

JBH Guitars was established in 2007 by Josh Humphrey in Eugene, OR.

Over the course of 19 years, Humphrey has developed and produced a variety of models of acoustic guitar, octave, mandolins, bouzouki, ouds, and electric guitars, among others. Focusing exclusively on custom orders for the first 18 years, the business has recently expanded to include three other apprentice luthiers and now produces custom hand-built instruments in small batches in Ellensburg, WA.

Being a musician in heart and soul, Humphrey’s aim in instrument building is to design and build instruments that help musicians raise their craft. Being a serious player is important to luthiery, as it gives you inside knowledge on how each instrument should sound, feel and play.

The instruments feature rare and desirable tonewoods in traditional and modern designs. Each instrument is painstakingly handcrafted using exacting hand work and built to the highest specifications. Each instrument is guaranteed for the life of the original purchaser.

Team

Josh Humphrey

Master Luthier

Josh Humphrey founded JBH Guitars in 2007, after putting off building an acoustic guitar for as long as possible.

After completing his first one, entirely out of a book and with limited hand tools in his shed, he was a goner.

Raised on grunge and punk in the Seattle 90’s scene, Josh has always enjoyed writing music and playing guitar. He has also studied music of India and Turkey, as well as building ouds and raga guitars to further the art.

Noel Walsh

Luthier

Noel Walsh joined the JBH team in 2019 as a luthier’s apprentice. He is currently the shop manager and assists Josh in training the newer employees.

Noel is a musician and enjoys playing guitar, singing, writing songs and performing.

Dominic Perron

Luthier

Dominic Perron  grew up playing bass in punk and metal outfits and now finds himself as banjo player for Ellensburg band Tinned Fish.

Growing up in a musical household, he has been fixing, building, and modifying instruments to his liking since childhood. He recently shut down his electrical company to pursue his ambition of studying under Josh Humphrey and creating beautiful musical instruments.

John Baldwin is a self-taught musician, guitarist, and vocalist born and raised in Ellensburg, Washington.
